Spring 2014: Salmon Action Nights offer volunteer opportunities every Thursday

by Michelle Saport  |

Thursdays, Feb. 20-April 17, 5-7 p.m. Alaska Center for the Environment Mobilization Center (202 E. 26th Ave.)

Come join UAA Students for Environmental Action every Thursday for Salmon Action Night, hosted by the Alaska Center for the Environment (ACE). Students can build advocacy skills by joining a growing base of volunteer activists to advance campaigns focused on issues affecting salmon habitat, including the Pebble Mine, Susitna Dam and Chuitna Coal Strip Mine. In addition to meeting other passionate students over a free dinner, volunteers will have the opportunity to become involved with community outreach, activist trainings, phone banks, tabling, petitioning and door canvassing.

If you have any questions, contact ACE Campus Organizer Kelsi Swenson at kaswenson2@alaska.edu or (509) 342-5428. To learn more about opportunities with UAA Students for Environmental Action, visit facebook.com/UAAsea.
