The Center for Advancing Faculty Excellence (CAFE), UAA's faculty development center, is pleased to announce its COW (CAFE Oh Wow!) Faculty Development Awards for 2014. The success of UAA's faculty development initiatives and programs are due in large part to the willingness of UAA faculty and staff who share their time and expertise with their colleagues.

COW Award recipients, who receive highly coveted bovine-themed figurines to appreciative "moos" from the audience, have made major contributions to faculty development initiatives across the UAA system.

This year's recipients include: Patty Linton, associate dean of the College of Arts and Sciences (CAS), for her tireless efforts to inform faculty about changes to the Faculty Evaluation Guidelines; Steve Johnson, director of the Seawolf Debate Team, for his dedication to infusing critical thinking throughout the curriculum; and Katie Walker, instructional designer for the College of Education (COE), for her generous support of the COE's ongoing commitment to creating positive and engaging online student experiences. Due to unavoidable absences, the awards for Patty Linton and Steve Johnson were accepted by Communication Professor Shawnalee Whitney and CAS Dean John Stalvey.
