UA Board of Regents heads to Kodiak College for April meeting this week

by Michelle Saport  |

The University of Alaska Board of Regents heads to Alaska's Emerald Isle for its April 3-4 meeting at the Kodiak College campus.

The packed agenda includes a motion to approve the issues and subsequent goals, known as "effect statements," in the Shaping Alaska's Future initiative, a strategic direction for the future of the UA System.

Two proposals that have come from the Shaping Alaska's Future effort-a common calendar across the UA System and a charge to faculty to create common general education requirements for English and math across the system-will also be up before the board.

Public testimony will be taken at approximately 9:30 a.m. both Thursday and Friday. Written comments are accepted and will be distributed to the Board of Regents and UA President Pat Gamble following the meeting. The meeting also will be available as a live webstream here.
