Three sessions, all in UAA/APU Consortium Library, Room 302A: Friday, June 13, 1:30-2:30 p.m. Wednesday, June 25, 1:30-2:30 p.m. Tuesday, July 29, 1:30-2:30 p.m.

Risky alcohol use is implicated in nine of the top ten causes of death in Alaska. Many health professionals are reluctant to ask their patients or clients about their alcohol or drug use, or feel that they lack the skills to do so. The Arctic SBIRT Training project, administered through UAA Center for Behavioral Health Research and Services (CBHRS) in collaboration with the health professional programs at UAA, is seeking to change this.

Join CBHRS' Arctic SBIRT Training staff to learn about this SAMHSA-funded project to train and educate health professional students at UAA to conduct alcohol and drug screening, brief interventions and referral to treatment (SBIRT). Plus, find out how faculty and staff can get involved.
