UAA employees vs. Alaska Airlines employees: volleyball showdown!

by Michelle Saport  |

As part of the Alaska Airlines Center's (AAC) grand opening celebrations in early September, UAA employees will be challenging Alaska Airlines employees to a game of volleyball. We'll play on a court in the AAC. UAA employees who have an understanding of volleyball or who have played volleyball in the past, or folks with a natural ability to excel at sports and who can learn rules quickly, or tall people who can block and spike, or short people who can dig, roll, serve or set, or anyone, really, who thinks this sounds like fun, should learn more about this opportunity! If this description is intriguing to you, please consider volunteering to play on the team. There will be a short time commitment for a practice or two prior to the match. The game will be spirited, we will be sore the next day, we will likely remember how much easier it was to play competitive sports while we were in high school or college, but we will have an amazing time!

If you have any interest in participating, or if you have questions and would like more information, please contact Kristin DeSmith (4'11", setter, 25 years since I last played competitively, but incredibly enthusiastic!) at kadesmith@uaa.alaska.edu or (907) 786-1263.
