Send questions and comments about staff furlough policy to APT and Classified Councils by July 25, 2014

Below is a message from the APT and Classified Council presidents regarding the proposed furlough policy: "We are sure you remember the email sent around June 3 that talked about the BOR plans to introduce and incorporate a furlough policy at UA. This email is archived here for your convenience. As we have found out, tentative plans include having this item on the September BOR meeting agenda for possible implementation in January 2015.

This was the first time your council presidents and members heard about the possible furlough. Since the councils do not meet regularly during the summer, we would like the opportunity to funnel any questions you may have to Statewide HR and would like to give you the opportunity to pose those questions.

If you have questions or comments please provide them to uaa_gov@uaa.alaska.edu by Friday, July 25.

We will organize and forward comments to the Statewide HR Office by Wednesday, July 30. We are asking Erik Seastedt, Chief Human Resources Officer, to formulate his reply and return it to us by Wednesday, Aug. 13.

At that time we (as your governance body) will bring his answers and any questions his answers may raise to the Joint APT/Classified Council Retreat in September. Erik is scheduled to attend the retreat (via video conference) and will be able to answer any additional comments on the furlough.

Following all that questions and answers will be posted on our Facebook page."
