Friday, Aug. 8, 4-5 p.m. East Parking Garage (arrival point)

Help welcome 72 student bike riders from the University of Texas. Each year, students from UT pedal more than 4,000 miles from Austin to Anchorage to raise money for cancer research.

Welcome them as they end their 70-day trek at UAA. Come meet them at the East Parking Garage as they begin arriving around 4 p.m., or come outside and show your support on their ceremonial ride through campus, 4:45-5 p.m., from the parking garage down Alumni Drive in front of the Administration/Humanities Building to Providence Drive then up Seawolf Drive ending at the Wells Fargo Sports Complex NW parking lot. A fire truck and sirens will announce their arrival.

For the more adventurous, bike in with them from Mirror Lake. Meet at the top level of the East Parking Garage at 11 a.m. Transportation to Mirror Lake for you and your bike will be provided. Helmets are required.
