Natasa Masanovic, professor and chair of the UAA Department of Languages, will be honored as a YWCA/BP Women of Achievement at a special event this Thursday, Nov. 13. The awards recognize the leadership qualities and community contributions of individuals and are "a way for women and girls to see women in their community as a moving force," said YWCA board member Betsy Haines, herself a Woman of Achievement in 2004.

Thursday's ceremonies will include a purse auction and reception. For more information and to buy tickets, visit CenterTix.net. For a complete list of this year's honorees, read the full story at Alaska Dispatch News.
