Think Tank with United Way: Solving chronic school absence, March 20

The Think Tank Series is an interactive community engagement experience. A visiting nonprofit agency will present a challenge or issue, then attendees will brainstorm solutions for the organization. Students, faculty, staff and community members: join us in assisting this agency by contributing your thoughts and ideas to the discussion.

Matanuska-Susitna College professors Cypher and Chang to retire in May

In May, Matanuska-Susitna College (MSC) will see the retirement of two distinguished long-time professors, Jack Cypher, who has served 16 years, and Professor Ping-Tung Chang, who has served 26 years. Read more about their many contributions to MSC.

'American Foreign Policy in Egypt' with Scott Hibbard, March 20

Scott Hibbard will discuss some aspects of religion in the Middle East and America's foreign policies. Hibbard is an associate professor at DePaul University, where he teaches courses on American foreign policy, Middle East politics and international relations.

Seeing a need for a co-working space in Anchorage, UAA alumna Brit Szymoniak and M.P.A. grad student Katherine Jernstrom came up with the idea of The Boardroom—a bright, stylish new co-working hub. After just a few months, this successful entrepreneurial duo has nearly reached The Boardroom's capacity and has plans to expand in May.

A high school chemistry teacher helped Melissa see she had talent in science and that a fulfilling career in medicine could be hers. She earned a biological sciences degree before succeeding in Alaska WWAMI and becoming a family medicine physician at Southcentral Foundation Anchorage Native Primary Care Center.
