2014 Chancellor's Awards call for nominations

 

April 10, 2014: SafeZone Celebration Launch and Dessert Reception

Join us in launching UAA's third annual SafeZone Celebration Week with a lunch and dessert reception. The presentation will feature a welcome from The Family, UAA's LGBTQA student club; opening remarks by Chancellor Case; keynote speaker Drew Phoenix, executive director of Identity Inc.; and more. This event is free and open to the UAA and Anchorage communities.

Drive-in movie: 'Contagion,' April 10

Join us for an authentic drive-in movie experience right on campus. The movie for the night is "Contagion." Audio for the movie will be broadcasted over the radio. Please bring a car and some warm clothes.

Petra Banks receives 2013-2014 Consortium Library Prize

UAA anthropology student Petra Banks is the winner of this year's 2013-2014 Consortium Library Prize. The award, which includes a $500 cash prize, recognizes "an exemplary undergraduate research project which demonstrates evidence of significant scholarly investigation and utilization of library resources, archival as well as electronic."

Passport to the Deaf World - April 12, 2014

The Alaska Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf (AKRID) and the UAA Department of Languages invite you to a journey into the deaf world. Come practice your sign language skills, enjoy games and learn about American Sign Language in this voice-off event.

Matanuska-Susitna College gifted more than $28,000 to fund health scholarship

Don and Sherry Shiesl donated $28,520.20 to Matanuska-Susitna College to endow a scholarship for MSC students in health-related fields. The permanently endowed fund will be known as the Marie Narhi Shiesl Scholarship in memory of Don Shiesl's mother, who worked as a nurse. The scholarship is intended to honor the legacy of all nurses who have devoted their lives to caring for the sick and injured.

Matanuska-Susitna College student Zach Seals wins CISCO NetRiders Competition

Matanuska-Susitna College (MSC) student Zachery Seals is the winner of this year's statewide CISCO NetRiders Competition. Seals will go on to compete as part of the U.S. and Canada regional Dream Team.
