For the first time in the 15-year history of the Great Northwest Athletic Conference, the University of Alaska Anchorage has been picked atop the league's volleyball preseason coaches' poll, released Monday.

With six returning letterwinners, including four starters, the Seawolves are coming off a 21-6 campaign in which they set school records for best winning percentage and fewest losses. UAA has finished GNAC runner-up by just a single match each of the last two seasons with identical 15-3 conference records. The No. 2 seed at last season's NCAA West Regional Championships, the Seawolves are aiming for their sixth NCAA Tournament berth in seven years in 2015.

The 2015 Seawolves premiere Saturday, Aug. 29, with their annual Seawolf Alumni match. The event starts at 7 p.m. at the Alaska Airlines Center and admission is free.

UAA opens the regular season Sept. 3-5 with four matches in its own SpringHill Suites Invitational, including showdowns with nationally ranked Nebraska Kearney and Rockhurst.
