Sept. 22–24, 2015: Basic physical defense for women

by Michelle Saport  |

The Rape Aggression Defense System (R.A.D.) is a program of realistic self-defense tactics and techniques for women, offered through the University Police Department (UPD). The next session is scheduled for Sept. 22, 23 and 24, from 5:30-9:30 p.m. each night. If you are interested in attending, please register at the UPD website. Location and additional information will be sent to you once the class is confirmed.

R.A.D. is a comprehensive, women-only course that begins with lessons on awareness, prevention, risk reduction and risk avoidance, then proceeds to cover the basics of hands-on defense training. R.A.D. will provide students with the knowledge to make an educated decision about personal defense, information on physical and non-physical options, and insight into the attacker mindset.
