The combination of flute and guitar is one of the most serendipitous of instrumental pairings, one that over the centuries has enticed composers to write some of their finest works. Because the guitar is central to Latin culture, composers of that heritage in particular have been drawn to this genre. This program features works by two of today's most outstanding musicians, Argentinian composer and guitarist José Luis Merlin and Brazilian composer/guitarist Sérgio Assad.

Duo Saint Caecilia is a collaboration of Drs. Christine Gustafson and Elliot Frank, professors and heads of instrumental studios at the ECU School of Music. They bring to this partnership a wealth of performance experience and superior skill, affording audiences in the U.S. and Europe the opportunity to hear and enjoy this beautiful repertoire.
