November 2015: Veterans Appreciation Month

The University of Alaska Anchorage is celebrating Veterans Appreciation Month with a variety of events and opportunities to engage in. Highlights include:

Pledge to support UAA's military and veteran community This November, show our military and veteran community that you support them! Take the pledge to support our students and receive a poster to display in your office.

Veterans Day 5K Memorial Run Saturday, Nov. 7, 10 a.m.-noon Social Science Building, Parking Lot (start)

The annual Veterans Day 5K Memorial Run commemorates the service and sacrifice of our nation's 22 million veterans. Half the proceeds from the run will benefit the Armed Services YMCA of Alaska, while the other half will support the UAA Seawolf Cadet Club. Veterans and Military Spouses Job Fair Friday, Nov. 13, 10 a.m.-2 p.m. University Center

Military, veterans and famliy, you are invited to the 2015 Veterans and Military Spouses Job Fair. More than 120 employers from various industries will be in attendance. Come explore a variety of career opportunities. Dress for success and bring copies of your resume. Register here.

Veterans Resource Fair Wednesday, Nov. 18, 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Student Union, Upper Hallway

Stop by the upper hallway of the Student Union for a Veterans Resource Fair. Tables will be set up with amazing resources for military, veterans and their families. Admission is free for all.

Free flu shots for veterans Pay it forward--donate $20 to the Student Health and Counseling Center for a veteran to receive a flu shot.
