The nationally 9th-ranked Alaska Anchorage volleyball team has been selected as host for the NCAA Division II West Region Championships. UAA - which has captured a No. 1 regional seed for the first time - will host the eight-team tournament Dec. 4-6 at the Alaska Airlines Center.

The Seawolves (26-2) - who earned the Great Northwest Athletic Conference's automatic NCAA Tournament bid - will play their opening-round match Friday, Dec. 4, at 7:30 p.m. against No. 8 seed Dixie State (19-10). UAA is making its third consecutive NCAA appearance and sixth in the last seven years, following just two NCAAs in the program's first 29 seasons.

In addition to the UAA-Dixie State match, Friday's other first-round match-ups will be No. 3 seed Sonoma State (26-3) vs. No. 6 seed UC San Diego (19-11) at noon, No. 2 seed Western Washington (23-5) vs. No. 7 seed Point Loma (20-9) at 2:30 p.m., and No. 4 seed Cal State San Bernardino (26-5) vs. No. 5 seed Central Washington (20-7) at 5 p.m.

Saturday's semifinal contests will be held at 6 p.m. and 8:30 p.m., and Sunday's title match will be at 4 p.m., with the winner advancing to the NCAA Div. II Elite Eight, Dec. 8-10 in Tampa, Fla.
