Four years ago, Ricardo Castillo left the Army and continued exploring a career field he'd found and loved: Logistics. He helped establish a fraternity, engaged in the Emerging Leaders Program and now is preparing to join the ranks of graduates at the 2015 Spring Commencement.

The UAA Rocketry team recently pitted their skills and knowledge against approximately 25 university teams in NASA's annual Student Launch event in Huntsville, Ala., and brought home sixth place with a rocket they built in eight months.

Shannon Donovan won't claim a green thumb. But problem solving is a particular planning skill she's proud of, and happy to apply to Anchorage's community gardens where demand wildly exceeds supply. With an Innovate Award, she's working with the city to clarify demand and write a master plan for sustainable public-use gardens.

If you've ever wanted to have class in a castle, this is your chance. Thanks to a recent exchange program, UAA aviation students travel in pairs each spring to a tiny town on the mighty Rhine River in Germany, while two German students head to Alaska to take their place.

With the legislature adjourned as of April 26, 2015, Mark Simon's internship in Rep. Max Gruenberg's office for the semester has come to an end. He says he learned enough to know he wants to learn a whole lot more.
