UAA has five students working as legislative interns in Juneau this session. They'll report back on their experiences through Postcards Home. Here, political science major Mark Simon lets us travel along on his drive and ferry ride from Anchorage to Juneau.

New Hampshire-born Russ Dow first set eyes on Alaska when he was 18 years old. It ruined him for predictable life back East and he made Alaska his permanent home in 1936.

Mark Skolnick is a seriously busy man. He's a full-time lawyer, as well as a UAA flight instructor with a penchant for midnight flights. But whether his day is in the courtroom or in the clouds, he's always home in the evenings for family time (on top of juggling two careers, he's also a father of three).

"Strokes of Electricity" is an exhibition of selected visual works by the renowned American folk musician and activist Woody Guthrie. If Shakespeare, zombies, sword fights and some funny possibilities as to how some of the Bard's greatest plays came to be appeal to you, join us for cold readings in the Harper Studio Theatre (Fine Arts Building, Room 129) on Friday, Feb. 6 or Sunday, Feb. 8.
