Feb. 18 and 19, 2016: Celebrate the 30th annual Jazz Week Festival

by Michelle Saport  |

The UAA Department of Music is proud to present the 30th annual Jazz Week Festival! Jazz Week, Feb. 17-19, integrates student and professional performers in a significant hands-on experience. Jazz Week encourages students and community members to participate in the performance environment alongside the guest artists. This year's festival will feature Anchorage's guitarist Nick Petumenos and his guest trio in four days of rehearsals and evening concerts. Wednesday and Thursday, Nick's group will coach and rehearse with selected UAA ensembles. Thursday and Friday, he will perform alongside these ensembles during the final concerts.

Long time Anchorage resident and professional musician, Nick Petumenos will only be in town for a brief visit as he is currently working on his Ph.D. at Frost School of Music, University of Miami. His trio is comprised of three recent University of Miami graduates: Matthew Buckner (drums), Daniel Montgomery (bass and vocals) and Tad Nicol (sax, keyboards and music engineering).

30th annual Jazz Week concerts: UAA Jazz Combos in concert with Nick Petumenos Thursday, Feb. 18, 7:30-9 p.m. Fine Arts Building, Room 150
