Still time to submit a poster for Alaska food conference on Feb. 26

by Michelle Saport  |

The Alaska Food Policy Council's second Alaska Food Festival and Conference, co-sponsored by the UAA Department of Health Sciences, is less than one week away. Located on the UAA campus, the event boasts an exciting line up of about 50 presenters for the Friday, Feb. 26 conference portion, and another 30 or so presenters, plus chef demos, farm/garden/cooking activities, and vendors, for the festival on Saturday Feb. 27. You can find the complete agenda and register at the Alaska Food Policy Council website.

Although we have a packed speaker agenda, we still have room for additional poster presentations on Alaska food topics, which could cover any number of the issues under the themes of food security and food systems (e.g., hunger and food access, food production/distribution, subsistence and wild harvest, food safety, nutrition, farmer education, and food policy, to name just a few).

To encourage participation from both academia and the broader community in this all-inclusive event, we are accepting both new and previously presented posters in a variety of formats and sizes. If you, or someone you know, may be interested in presenting a poster on Feb. 26, please contact Liz H. Snyder at ehodges4@uaa.alaska.edu no later than Thursday, Feb. 24, to apply and gather additional details.
