Bears are out of their dens; use common sense and stay safe

The UAA Office of Emergency Management reminds you that many bears are now out of their dens for the season, and Alaska has already had a couple people injured in confrontations with bears. The animals are typically protecting their cubs, and your safety can be enhanced by using some common sense tactics. Check out the state's Fish & Game Department guidance here: Living With Bears.
