Vice Chancellor Bill Spindle is pleased to announce that Monica Kane will transition from Academic Affairs to Administrative Services. In her new position, Monica will serve as Chief of Staff, and will manage UAA's most critical outsourced efforts, such as the complex array of Alaska Airlines Center contracts and agreements. She will also lead efficiency improvement efforts at UAA.

In collaboration with the College of Engineering Project Management Program, Monica will help to grow the Lean Six Sigma process improvement culture throughout UAA. This process is essential as our university adjusts to a new fiscal reality.

Monica has worked in various roles at UAA for nearly 20 years, most recently as Assistant Provost since September 2010.

Her experience in higher education aligns well with the duties of this position. She holds a master's degree in organizational systems renewal from Seattle University, with an emphasis in change management for complex and distributed systems. Monica serves on a number of local, regional and national committees and boards. Additionally, she is a graduate of the Alaska Humanities Forum Leadership Anchorage Program and earned a spot on the 2011 Alaska Journal of Commerce "Top 40 Under Forty."
