20160421-summer-engineering-acadThe deadline to apply for the College of Engineering Summer Engineering Academies for middle (grades 5-8) and high school (grades 9-12) students is this Thursday, April 21. This year, for the first time, we will be offering weeklong sessions in Anchorage and Mat-Su.

The UAA Summer Engineering Academies offer a series of weeklong, hands-on instructional sessions for students entering grades 5 through 12 in Anchorage and Mat-Su. Each academy is designed to encourage interest and provide exposure to science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM). The academies also seek to support historically underserved and underrepresented students who have limited opportunities for these experiences.

The academies are divided into one-week sessions for middle school (grades 5-8) and high school (grades 9-12). Each week explores a different topic. This year's themes are robotics,
structural destruction,
alternative energy,
 wing aerodynamics,
advanced structures,
breaking buildings and
 creative coding.
