The University of Alaska Anchorage (UAA) and the Anchorage Economic Development Corporation, together with the United States Patent and Trade Office (USPTO), would like to invite you to participate in an exciting event - the first World Intellectual Property Day at UAA. It will be held May 3, 2016, on the UAA campus in the UAA/APU Consortium Library, Room 307.

World Intellectual Property Day is celebrated each year with a variety of events and activities in cities worldwide. It aims to increase people's awareness and understanding of the importance of intellectual property.

The theme of the event at UAA will be "Beyond Commodities -Transformation through Innovation," which will fit into USPTO's theme for this year, "Digital Creativity: Culture Reimagined."

Come learn how intellectual property impacts ideas in today's culture and economy. Hear from local and national experts on how to protect your ideas, designs and business and what can happen if you don't. Hear success stories from local entrepreneurs and startups and learn what it takes to attract investment.

Please RSVP to Andrea Miller at andrea@uaa.alaska.edu or (907) 786-1196 by 5 p.m. on Wednesday, April 27.
