Faculty bookstore panel to include UAA undergraduate researcher in English

Mark your calendar for a UAA Campus Bookstore talk, "The 'Female' in Indigenous and Pre-Socratic Cultures," to be held Wednesday, Aug. 24, 4-6 p.m. Along with three faculty members from UAA and UAF, the panel will feature Wolfgang Olsson, a recent UAA graduate who earned a B.A. in English with Honors.

Olsson completed his English thesis project, "Bridging Histories of Rhetoric and Complex Systems: Modeling and Mapping the History of Aspasia," this past spring and traveled in May to a national conference-the Rhetoric Society of America-to workshop the project with peers and faculty. His contribution to this panel will reflect his learning about Aspasia, a woman who is thought to have played a central role in ancient rhetorical history.

Wolfgang's research has been made possible by generous support from the UAA Office of Undergraduate Research and Scholarship.
