Fall 2016: Don't miss Convocation and Campus Kick-Off this Saturday

Kick off your academic journey at UAA! Chancellor Tom Case invites you to be inspired by student-led performances, hear stories from UAA alumni and enjoy a special message from Olympian Kikkan Randall. Stick around after Convocation to enjoy live entertainment, vendor booths and sample the fresh flavors of local food trucks at Campus Kick-Off. Everyone is invited-new and returning students, UAA staff and faculty.

Campus Kick-Off Festival Saturday, Aug. 27, 5-7:30 p.m. Cuddy Quad (rain or shine)

Enjoy live music, get your butt sketched and roam the Quad connecting with old friends and making new ones. Explore 170 booths sponsored by UAA clubs and departments as well as local businesses, including Bosco's and Kaladi Brothers Coffee. This is the best place to get a feel for the community of UAA and become a part of something amazing. The festival has great energy and is a great way to meet new people-don't miss this great start to a new year at UAA.

The following food trucks will be at the festival: iFood, Yeti Dogs, Boom Ba Laddy's and Smokehouse BBQ. Bring a few dollars to enjoy great eats from these local vendors.

Free shuttle service available from student housing to the event.

Enjoy a free performance by some of the top comedians featured on CollegeHumor.com: Rory Scovel, Rick Glassman and Thomas Dale.

Star Wars: The Force Awakens Saturday, Aug. 27, 9:30 p.m. Rasmuson Hall, lawn

Grab a seat on the lawn outside Rasmuson Hall and watch a free screening of Star Wars: The Force Awakens. Student Activities will serve free hot dogs and drinks during the film.

College Night at Fred Meyer Saturday, Aug. 27, 11:59 p.m.-Sunday, Aug. 28, 2 a.m. Fred Meyer Northern Lights (1000 E. Northern Lights Blvd.)

Open in the early morning hours just for UAA students, the Northern Lights Fred Meyer will offer huge sales, prizes and free food to get you ready for your semester.
