Aug. 20, 2016: UAA Volleyball faces Seawolf alumni in exhibition match

20160820-uaa-volleyball-posterPreview the upcoming volleyball season and meet the 2016 Seawolves at an exhibition match against UAA alumni this Saturday, Aug. 20, at 7 p.m. in the Alaska Airlines Center. This game is free and open to the public.

After a breakthrough season for his program, UAA volleyball coach Chris Green has reloaded his roster for 2016. Now the Seawolves' challenge will be to refocus as they set their sights on another Great Northwest Athletic Conference title.

UAA is coming off a 27-3 campaign, an 18-2 GNAC record and a No. 13 ranking in the final AVCA's final NCAA Div. II Top 25 poll - all program bests - but must replace 60 percent of their offense from that squad, including All-American hitters Katelynn Zanders and Julia Mackey.

Luckily, the Seawolves have a returning All-American setter in local product Morgan Hooe, along with four other proven veterans who saw action in almost every set last year. Add seven talented newcomers, and Green hopes his squad will be ready for battle when the ball goes up Aug. 25 in the season-opener at BYU-Hawaii. After Saturday's exhibition match, the next chance to see the Seawolves play on home court is the Springhill Suites Invitational at the Alaska Airlines Center Sept. 1-3.
