Sept. 23, 2016: 'Undiscovered Worlds' premieres at the UAA Planetarium
by Michelle Saport |
Undiscovered Worlds premiere, presented by UAA Planetarium Manager Omega Smith Friday, Sept. 23, 6:30 p.m. and 8 p.m. ConocoPhillips Integrated Science Building, Room 220 Tickets / Trailer
Humans have long imagined exotic and intriguing worlds beyond our solar system. However, in recent years, science fiction has become science fact. With the creation of better telescopes and the improvement of detection techniques, we have discovered that our sun is not the only star with orbiting planets. Since the discovery of the first exoplanet in 1995, astronomers have discovered hundreds more orbiting other stars in our galaxy and beyond.
As Alaska's largest planetarium, the UAA Planetarium & Visualization Theater is an immersive place to explore the world around us-from the smallest microbes to the most distant galaxies. For more information, including how to become a UAA Planetarium member, please visit uaa.alaska.edu/planetarium.
