Saturday: Archaeology Day at the University Center

by Tracy Kalytiak  |

Archaeology Day Saturday, Oct. 15, 10 a.m.-4 p.m. University Center

Come explore the professions of anthropology and archaeology! You can try to shoot a (fake) bison using a spear throwing board (atlatl), learn about the human skeleton, find artifacts in a mock dig, make stone artwork or petroglyphs, and so much more.

Everybody is welcome. This free event will feature displays and activities for all ages (children and adults). Demonstrations and activities will be led by professional archaeologists who work throughout the state.

Archaeology Day was introduced by the Archaeological Institute of America and has since extended internationally. Learn about events planned around the world at archaeological.org. So far, the event at University Center is the only one planned for Alaska.
