The Kodiak Regional Adult Basic Education (ABE) Program at Kodiak College received the Alaska Adult Education Association (AAEA) Program Award for "exemplary effort in creative program development for the improvement of student services."

The Program Award, one of several presented annually at the AAEA Fall Luncheon, is "given to a program that shows innovative or exemplary effort in the area of curriculum, instruction, community organization, community service and creative programs."

The Kodiak Regional Adult Basic Education program offers free career, college and GED preparation and free English language classes for adults. Through the program, adults have the opportunity to develop skills and knowledge for education, employment and citizenship to increase self-image and self-direction; and to progress toward future personal, career, training and/or college goals.
