November 2016: Alaska Native/Native American Heritage Month

November is Alaska Native/Native American Heritage Month! Celebrate and learn about the various Indigenous cultures of Alaska by engaging in activities inspired by traditional teachings. There are deeper meanings to each event listed below, please make time to participate and engage in the learning process. All events are open to the UAA community and the public.

Fry Bread Making Monday, Nov. 21, 5:30-7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 6, 5:30-7:30 p.m. Gorsuch Commons, Cama-i Room

Baby Bootie Sewing Tuesday, Nov. 22, 5-7:30 p.m. Monday, Dec. 5, 5-7:30 p.m. Gorsuch Commons, Cama-i Room

Sew canvas baby booties using a pattern that comes from Koyukon Elder Madaline Williams of Hughes, Alaska. Sign up to participate by calling Karla at (907) 751-7452.
