Professional development workshops with featured speaker Drew Dudley Thursday, March 23, 2:30-4 p.m. Gorsuch Commons, Room 106 Register here

Part one (2:30-3:15 p.m.) - Creating Cultures of Leadership: The Power of Value-Based Decision Making How many of you are completely comfortable with calling yourself a leader? Drew will present practical strategies to help you and your colleagues identify, define and act on your core values more consistently, and demonstrate the benefits that come to organizations who create value-driven cultures of leadership. Featuring examples that originate everywhere from small-town Canada to the deserts of Qatar, and characters that range from janitors to CEOs, this presentation will make you think, laugh and reconsider the way you evaluate leadership in your life and workplace.

  • This session will:
  • Demonstrate the importance of developing and communicating your personal leadership philosophy.
  • Illustrate the link between personal value clarity and employee pride, engagement and productivity.
  • Provide a step-by-step process to more effectively identify and "operationalize" key leadership values (both individual and organizational).
  • Provide six key daily questions that drive effective leadership.

Part two (3:15-4 p.m.) - More Than Words: Defining the Things That Define Leaders Integrity, honesty, respect, accountability-how would you explain what these words mean to someone who had never heard them before? Building on Drew Dudley's previous presentation, this highly interactive session will ask participants to engage in a deeper, collective examination of the values we use to evaluate leaders, and often to evaluate ourselves. After all, there's little doubt we judge others swiftly (and often harshly) if they don't live up to the values we generally associate with leaders. But when was the last time you really examined what the various desirable leadership values actually mean? This workshop will challenge you to do just that and, in the process, define the things we want to define us.

Register today for this exciting leadership development opportunity and shared your insights with colleagues across campus. Registration deadline is Wednesday, March 22. You can register for both sessions or just session one.
