All employees must complete Title IX training by Sept. 30, 2017

Dear UAA Faculty and Staff,

We all bear responsibility to ensure that UAA campuses are safe, welcoming and inclusive for our students, employees and the communities we serve. We can make a difference if we do our part to take care of each other. I want to remind our UAA campus community that if you see something, say something, and do something about it.

Title IX: Sex and Gender Based Discrimination Prevention training is one of a number of preventive strategies UAA employs to raise awareness about sexual assault, sexual harassment, stalking, and domestic and intimate partner violence. Training helps change attitudes and behaviors, and UAA requires all employees to complete this training annually. Even if you completed Haven training last year, you must complete the training again by Sept. 30, 2017.

To learn how to complete this annual training requirement, go online to the Title IX training page. If you have questions or concerns, please contact Prevention Education Coordinator Bridget Coffou in the Office of Equity and Compliance at (907) 786-4680 or bmcoffou@alaska.edu.

We will continue our efforts to ensure UAA is an inclusive environment for everyone. We will not tolerate violence or discrimination of any kind on our campuses. I am encouraged by the strides our community has made together. As we've learned and grown, so has our resolve to make UAA a safe, welcoming, supportive community.

Sincerely, Samuel B. Gingerich Interim Chancellor
