Reminder: Evacuation drills scheduled for Sept. 11-15, 2017

A reminder that the UAA offices of Emergency Management, Risk, and Facilities will be conducting evacuation drills in all academic and office buildings next week, Sept. 11-15. Fire system horns and strobe lights will be activated, and all occupants are required to quickly exit the building. Volunteers in safety vests will often be on hand to direct patrons to the building's outdoor Emergency Assembly Area, as drill staff check the function of facility alarm hardware. Once alarm bells and horns are silenced, everyone will be authorized to return to the building.
Evacuation alarm systems automatically return elevator cars to the ground level. Anyone in a wheelchair during an alarm should remain on the stairwell landing of the floor in which they find themselves, and direct someone to notify responders that they are there awaiting assistance.
