A friendly reminder that the new voicemail-to-email feature will go live as of Monday, March 19, 2018If you experience any issues with this new feature, or would like to opt out, please contact the IT Call Center at (907) 786-4646.

After the migration to Gmail, users lost the ability to have voicemail delivered to their email inboxes. Since this change, IT Services has been striving to restore some of this functionality to our users. IT Services is pleased to announce the voicemail-to-email function will be returning to UAA faculty and staff. Along with this new feature, IT Governance groups have developed a new voicemail retention policy. The new voicemail features and updated voicemail policy are outlined in summary below.

Voicemail features:

Starting March 19, 2018, voicemail will once again be delivered to a user's email as an attachment, which can be listened to via the user's email client or downloaded to save/archive. However, the voicemail emails are unable to synchronize with the voicemail system. Because of this, the voicemail indicator light on a user's Cisco IP phone will not respond to voicemails being marked as "read" or deleted in a user's inbox.

Coming soon: Users will be able log into a voicemail web page using their UA credentials and listen to voicemails online. This function, once launched, will synchronize with the voicemail system, causing the voicemail indicator light on a user's Cisco IP phone to update.

Please note: This is a new system. If you experience problems with receiving the voicemail emails, please contact the IT Call Center at (907) 786-4646 and our Call Center technicians will help resolve any issues.

Voicemail retention policy:

IT Governance has developed and approved the following policies in reference to voicemail retention.

  1. All voicemail unsaved will be held for six (6) months. After six (6) months, unsaved voicemail will automatically move to the voicemail saved inbox.
  2. All saved voicemail will be retained for six (6) months. After six (6) months, saved voicemail will automatically move to the voicemail deleted box.
  3. All voicemail in the voicemail deleted box will be purged from the system permanently after 15 days.

Please note: With the new features, users can download and save voicemail files to a computer. This allows users to save important voicemails when needed.
