Women Veteran Athletes Initiative photography series on display at Student Union through March

The Student Union Coffee Shop is proud to host the artwork of the Women Veteran Athletes Initiative, a photography series featuring the stories of 10 amazing women whose lives after military service have been positively impacted by their participation in sports. In the words of one veteran who took up rowing after losing the use of her legs, "You can compare ocean rowing to life: you get blown off course, but remaining adrift is a choice-always better to chart a new course and carry on."

Alaska is among 10 states and the Student Union is the only Anchorage location chosen to host the Women Veteran Athletes Initiative. The series will hang until Friday, March 30. This project was made possible by the Alaska Center for Women Veterans and the UAA Office of Military and Veteran Student Services. Learn more about the Women Veteran Athletes Initiative here.
