Another top-three finish for KPC's Kenai River Campus in National Troubleshooting finals

For the second straight year, a team from the KRC process technology program has finished second in the National Troubleshooting Competition. The North American Process Technology Alliance's 2018 competition was held at River Parishes Community College in Gonzales, Louisiana, April 20-21.

KRC's team was the only Alaska representative this year. In the previous national finals, Alaska has been represented by two or three teams, and at least one Alaska team has finished in the top three each year. In 2012, KPC's Anchorage Extension Site team finished first; last year's KRC team finished second.

This year's KRC team, coached by Jeff Laube, KRC associate professor of process technology, consists of Jake Kueber, Stephan Gergilevich and Shane Poindexter. KRC finished behind San Jacinto College-Central Campus (Pasadena, Texas) and ahead of Sowela Technical Community College (Lake Charles, Louisiana) among the top three.

The KRC team took the Qualifying Round testing March 21 at KRC, and placed as one of the top 10 teams in the country. More than 70 schools teach the process technology program and are invited to compete in the national troubleshooting competition. The competition consists of troubleshooting numerous computer simulations that monitor different types of processes by monitoring screens.
