Kenrick Mock will serve as interim dean of the UAA College of Engineering, effective Oct. 29, 2018. Mock is a professor of computer science who joined UAA in 2000. He has taught more than 30 courses in computing over his career, is co-author of four textbooks on computer programming, and conducts research in artificial intelligence, complex systems, computer security and computer science education.

In addition to his teaching and research activities, Mock has served in various roles including faculty associate for undergraduate research, chair of the Department of Computer Science & Engineering, acting dean, and associate dean for the College of Engineering.

Prior to joining UAA, Mock taught at Washington State University, Portland State University, and was a research scientist at Intel Corporation. He received his Ph.D., M.S., and B.S. in computer science from the University of California-Davis.

Mock replaces Aaron Dotson, who briefly served as acting dean following the resignation of Fred Barlow. UAA will soon begin a national search for a permanent dean. Any opportunities for the community to provide input on the search will be shared via the Seawolf Daily.
