UAA students win big by completing Title IX training

by Jessica Hamlin  |

Two UAA students won $1,000 spring semester tuition waivers yesterday as part of an incentive program to complete Title IX training by the first week of November. Another two students won "super" priority registration, moving them to the front of the line to complete registration for spring semester. Only two of the winners, Mallory Pelton and Brian Amirault, have been formally notified; the identities of the other two winners will be withheld pending notification. Ms. Pelton won a $1,000 tuition waiver, while Mr. Amirault won "super" priority registration. The prize winners were randomly drawn from a pool of students who automatically qualified for the drawing by having completed Title IX training, either online or in person. Another drawing will be held next week to give away two more $1,000 tuition waivers and "super" priority registration passes. A final drawing will take place the week of Nov. 5 to give away a grand prize: one round-trip ticket on Alaska Airlines to most every destination it flies.*

Congratulations to this week's winners! Good luck to the remaining pool of eligible students with next week's drawing. If you haven't yet taken the training, please do so soon. It not only helps us all establish and maintain a culture of respect at UAA, it will make you eligible for the $1,000 tuition discount! Just log on to UAOnline, select "Student Services and Account Information," then select "Student Training." Select "Title IX Training: Sex and Gender Based Discrimination," and complete the training. Once done, you're eligible to win!

Thank you to everyone that has done their part to take Title IX training! Let's all contribute to a culture of respect at UAA!
