UAA will conduct search for new provost in FY20 academic year

Dear UAA Community:

After considering the options and the best interest of UAA, I have decided to wait to conduct the national search for the next provost until FY20 academic year to maximize the traditional academic search cycle for such positions. If we search off-cycle, fewer qualified candidates tend to be available. We are fortunate that John Stalvey has agreed to serve as UAA's interim provost for up to two years, after which time a new provost will join our leadership team. We are similarly fortunate that John Petraitis has agreed to serve as interim dean of CAS during this period.

Currently, the long-term plan includes John Stalvey returning to the post of CAS dean for FY21 while we conduct a national search for a permanent dean.

I know many would like to see permanent appointments sooner. However, I firmly believe conducting an inclusive process and attracting a diverse and qualified candidate pool for both positions justify the extra time. I am committed to sharing pertinent information with you as it happens and also welcome your questions.
