UAA Nanopore Day set for Nov. 9, 2018

UAA Nanopore Day Friday, Nov. 9, 9 a.m.-5:30 p.m. ConocPhillips Integrated Science Building (particularly CPISB 105A & CPISB 120)

Oxford Nanopore Technologies has a novel state-of-the-art method for sequencing DNA. Using a hand-held MinION sequencing device, researchers (including students) have begun to perform deep sequencing in laboratories at the University of Alaska and other institutions. Nanopore Seminars will feature scientific research talks, introduction to the technology, poster presentations, a MinION sequencing demonstration, and bioinformatics skills breakout session.
