Cathy Sandeen begins role as UAA chancellor Sept. 15

University of Alaska President Jim Johnsen has selected Dr. Cathy Sandeen as the next chancellor of the University of Alaska Anchorage. “I am honored to be appointed chancellor of a dynamic university that plays such a vital role in surrounding communities, the region and the state,” Sandeen said.

It's been an eventful year for Alvin Amason, a Sugpiaq painter and sculptor and the founder of UAA’s Alaska Native Art program. Amason was awarded the Governor’s Arts and Humanities Award for an Individual Artist and the Rasmuson Foundation's Distinguished Artist title, all before summer.
