January 2019: Presentations by finalists for health economics post-doctoral researcher position

Join us for talks from three finalists for ISER's health economics post-doctoral researcher position.

Bita Fayaz, Ph.D. candidate from Lehigh University, will present, "How was Medical Care Utilization Affected by the Medicaid Primary Care Fee Bump," on Monday, Jan. 28, at Noon. Bita is an applied microeconomist with a specialization in health economics. Her research examines how individuals respond to incentives in the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program and how insurance and policy interventions influence the use of medical care.

Minh Nguyen, Ph.D. candidate in the Department of Economics at University of Illinois Chicago, will present, "The Spreading Power of the Pill: The Effect of Oral Contraceptives on Sexually Transmitted Diseases," on Thursday, Jan. 31, at Noon. Minh's research areas are health economics, economics of education and labor economics.

Caitlin Carroll, Ph. D. candidate in health policy (economics track) at Harvard University, is scheduled to visit in early February. She will discuss her paper, "Impeding Access or Promoting Efficiency? Effects of Rural Hospital Closure." This paper studies the effect of hospital closure on the cost and quality of health care in rural markets. Date yet to be determined.

All talks will take place in the ISER Conference Room (1901 Bragaw Street, Suite 301).
