New Safety Warden Program at UAA!

by Michelle Saport  |

As a result of the M7.1 earthquake, the UAA Office of Emergency Management is establishing a group of trained volunteer responders on the Anchorage campus to help keep everyone safe and alive after the next damaging earthquake! We are looking for employees who are willing to come for a half-day of responder training just after Commencement. They will then will be issued a responder gear bag and will be on-call and ready for the next big event! UAA is calling them Safety Wardens, and the intent is to have them able to check room to room in their building for injured students, employees and visitors. They'll get some emergency first-aid training and will learn how to report their findings to UAA crisis leadership.

If this sounds good for you, please contact Emergency Manager Ron Swartz at rcswartz@alaska.edu to sign up for the orientation and training workshop taking place Tuesday, May 7, 8 a.m.-Noon. There are still a few seats left!
