Dear UAA Community,

The Alaska Legislature met again today, but failed to override Gov. Dunleavy's $130 million veto to the University of Alaska's state-funded budget. Unfortunately, this means the cut will stand. As you know from President Johnsen's message, the Board of Regents will consider a declaration of financial exigency at Monday's meeting on July 15 from 1 to 3 p.m. I encourage you to listen in via livestream on the Board of Regents website.

Thank you again for your advocacy on behalf of the university. Although this is not the result any of us hoped for, it is the reality we face. Please know we remain committed to open communication and transparency with you. In light of that, please forgive the video quality. I wanted to get a response to you as quickly as possible.

Sincerely, Cathy Sandeen UAA Chancellor
