UAA hosted the Agriculture, Food and Human Values Society (AFHVS)/Association for the Study of Food and Society (ASFS) joint annual meeting June 26-29, 2019. According to Visit Anchorage, the conference's economic impact on the city was $1,067,589.

Tremendous kudos go to Zeynep Kilic, professor of sociology, UAA, who was instrumental in bringing the conference to our city and campus, as well as conference co-chairs Liz Hodges Snyder, associate professor of public health, UAA, and Rachel Miller, assistant professor of business, Alaska Pacific University.
