A Cappella Festivella to feature all Alaskan performers

2019 A Cappella Festivella posterUAA Concert Board is proud to announce the 26th annual A Cappella Festivella, featuring UAA Glee Club and Pipeline Vocal Project on Thursday, Oct. 10, at 7:30 p.m. in the Wendy Williamson Auditorium. A Cappella Festivella is a part of UAA Homecoming Week.

Pipeline Vocal Project (PVP) is Alaska's first professional a cappella trio comprised of a lead, bass and vocal percussion. Lisa Hawkins started the group shortly after coming back to Alaska following seven years of involvement in the a cappella industry as a performer, arranger, director and choreographer. With a goal to bring the contemporary a cappella culture up north, she reached out to Adriana Latonio, whom she sang with in the same studio as kids, then put out a call to singers in Alaska on Facebook where she was connected with Molly Dieni. As they say, the rest is history. Pipeline Vocal Project is a new group with a mission to spread the love of contemporary a cappella in Alaska through performance and education. By doing workshops, master classes and performances, they hope to bring the joy of a cappella into the school system and community. PVP believes it is now more important than ever to ensure Alaska's music scene still thrives and continues to create opportunities for singers of all ages.

UAA Glee Club is a group of UAA students and alumni who create and perform a variety of a cappella music (including pop, rock, R&B, hip-hop and musical theatre-to name just a few). Members range in ability and experience from the promising beginner to the seasoned performer. Members also range from different backgrounds and majors. The club strives to facilitate and nourish genuine friendships to build a strong sense of community while indulging and growing in the love of music and singing.

Tickets are available online at UAATix.com or in person at the UAA Student Union Information Desk.
