Employees and students across the University of Alaska system reported on Monday that they had received an email advertising an app called "Wildfire."

The email had a subject line that listed the recipient's name and said, "... welcome back to UAF!" The Wildfire app is not used by the university to notify people of emergencies and is not affiliated with the university in any way.

The university system's personal safety app is called "Rave Guardian" and is available on Google Play and the App Store.

The UAA official safety app is called "UAA SAFE" and is available on Google Play and the App Store.
