New option to choose preferred gender identity in UAOnline

by Michelle Saport  |

Students, faculty and staff can now choose their preferred gender identity from the Personal Information tab in UAOnline. We believe that adding the opportunity for students, faculty and staff to self-identify their gender helps UAA, UAF and UAS better understand and serve their university population. The gender identity options available in UAOnline were suggested by the American Association of Collegiate Registrars & Admissions Officers in a July 2019 report titled "Student Identity."

Updating preferred gender will not result in a change to legal sex in the university system (male or female). Those seeking to update their legal sex can submit a Change of Personal Information Form (available here) or contact the Registrar's Office at uaa.registration@alaska.edu or 907-786-1480 (option 5).
