Novel coronavirus guidance

by UAA Office of Emergency Management  |

UPDATE — Feb. 4, 2020: Please see the latest message from UAA leadership regarding the novel coronavirus.

Note that guidance regarding protecting yourself from the novel coronavirus is widely available. Visit the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) website for details. UAA has a comprehensive policy for handling influenza outbreaks, and our leadership is in regular contact with state and local health departments for updates.

Flights from China to Anchorage are arriving at the international (north) terminal, where passengers are screened by the CDC Quarantine Station officers. The U.S. State Department is advising against nonessential travel to China. If you, or someone you know, has returned from China within the last two weeks and feel sick with fever, cough or difficulty breathing, you should avoid contact with others and seek medical care. Call ahead, and tell them about your recent travel and symptoms.
