Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs Bruce Schultz is pleased to announce that David Weaver has accepted the executive director of Campus Services position at UAA effective immediately. As executive director, David will lead the areas of housing operations and finance, campus dining, conference services, Alaska Airlines Center events management, Wendy Williamson Auditorium, a new Seawolf Gear Shop (apparel and branded merchandise), parking, mail room, print shop and campus recycling.

"With over 15.5 years of experience working at UAA, I'm confident that David is well prepared to lead the Campus Services suite of programs and services through the current fiscal challenges," said Vice Chancellor Schultz. "He has significant experience providing facilities management leadership, planning and managing multi-million dollar auxiliary budgets, and transforming campus retail operations for the Anchorage campus. Prior to his most recent position in University Housing, Dining and Conference Services, David led the launch and implementation of the MAP-Works program at UAA, which I credit as the incubator for UAA's significant growth with student retention and completion work."

Initially, David will be charged with ensuring the campus services programs: 1) drive collaborative partnerships internally and align with campus priorities and objectives; 2) establish a more common dynamic digital footprint and virtual presence; 3) develop new strategies to fully support a student and client first agenda; 4) achieve greater efficiency and improved effectiveness commensurate with the fiscal realities; and 5) develop and implement business plans that put the functions on a viable path towards fiscal stability.

Vice Chancellor Schultz wishes to thank Kim Stanford for chairing the search committee, and Allie Hartman, Fallon Harkins, Heath Franklin and Penny Kimball for serving on the committee. According to Vice Chancellor Schultz, he appreciated "the search committee's focus on advancing the best finalists, providing opportunities for key stakeholders to provide input, and providing me with substantive evaluation of candidates strengths and concerns."

Congratulations, David!
